Take it easy on our Costa Rica honeymoon
When my wife and I went for our Costa Rica honeymoon about a month ago, we wanted a honeymoon where we could just take things easy and not rushed to go anywhere. So we decided that instead of taking domestic flights to travel to the different places in Costa Rica, we would just rent a car so that we had more control of our itineraries and schedules. We got a Hyundai Santa Fe 4×4 because we had been told by our friends that there could be places where a conventional sedan car would not be able to maneuver very well.
On day one when we arrived in San Jose which is the capital of Costa Rica, we checked into the Grano de Oro hotel for the night because it was already too late to drive to our next destination. The hotel was a relatively small and cozy boutique hotel but the service was simply first class. Both my wife and I do not like the huge and grand hotel so this Victorian boutique hotel suits us just fine. The next morning after checking out from the hotel, we started our road trip to Montezuma Costa Rica Rica which was about 4-5 hours away from San Jose. The highway was surprisingly empty so we had a relatively easy drive all the way to the port city pf Puntarenas which is took us about 2 hours. Puntarenas is famous for its fresh seafood and ports and since both of us were fans of fresh seafood, we decided to spend the night there so we could slowly savour the seafood cuisines there. It was a wonderful time as we ate at an open air restaurant at the famous sea front Paseo de los Turistas.
The next morning we took the ferry from Puntarenas over to Paquera which is located in the Nicoya Peninsula. From there we drove towards Tambor, stopped for some gas and continued on till we reached Montezuma Costa Rica. We checked into Hotel El Jardin which is located within walking distance to the beach. As you know we don’t like huge hotels so El Jardin was perfect as they only have 15 rooms and 2 beach front villas. Montezuma beach was great and the sunset view from the beach was just simply amazing. We had a lot of fun in Montezuma as well as the surrounding areas such as Mal Pais which is known for its white sandy beaches and of course the famous Cabo Blanco reserve which is the home to hundreds of animal and birds species in Costa Rica.
